We have made a decision to take a huge leap of faith and are embarking on a journey of international adoption... About a year ago, we began seriously considering adopting a child. Let's face it we are not getting any younger! Over the last 6 months it has be in the forefront of our minds and we began researching the endless possibilites. We began searching the internet on international adoption..... so much to consider, countries and their various programs, agencies, costs, adoptive family blogs, message boards.We have chosen the country of Kazakhstan for our adoption. It is a Central Asian country that borders Russia to the North and China to the East. The orphanages (baby houses) in Kazakhstan have a great reputation for taking good care of the children and for having healthy children . It is a country of diverse culture. No, not like Borat!
We are very excited about this decision (and completely scared, depending on the day) and look forward to sharing our thoughts on this journey--down a long and winding unknown road as we begin to navigate, with our friends and family. We have tentatively chosen an agency and have filled out an application, which is one of many steps toward our adoption. We hope everyone enjoys following along with us on this journey. We appreciate your comments and prayers as we embark on the road less traveled!
